Red Dragons

Bradley is sporting #5 on the Red Dragons.  This is his first season of two with this team.  It has been fun to watch him go from picking daisies and working on his flamingo stance...

... to getting serious and playing hard. Well, as serious as he can get when his buddy Everett is on the field.

Bradley runs like a spaz.  His dribbling is all over the place. But when he runs his fastest, he can still keep the ball ahead of the bunch and get it down the field and into the net. He's one of the team's top scoring players. He scores between 1-4 goals in each game. No need for bribery this year.  He is IN the zone. :)

I think Everett is practicing for his Swan Lake audition.

Brynnlee doesn't watch much of her brothers' games.  She is always busy kicking the ball around, or bouncing it on the basketball court.  I'm excited for her to get to play... next year??

Green Flames

This year we are trying a different soccer organization.  It's still recreational, but you get to play on the same team for 2 seasons instead of 1.  Kaleb is playing with the same little group of friends that he started with in West Jordan.  It's so fun for him to get to see old friends each week. Since we had 4 kids signing up together to be on the same team, we had to provide a coach.  Lucky Charles!!  He gets off the train on Thursday nights just in time to change his clothes and walk out to our front yard where he holds practice.  It's pretty convenient that way.  For me ;)

Kaleb's team is called the Green Flames.  He plays with Cole, Augustin and Micah from our old neighborhood, and a lone girl named Kaitlyn from his school class.  I'm pretty sure she has a crush on him.  She likes to chase him around and threaten him with kisses.

Anotherthinhg that's different about this league is that they only alllow 8 people on each team.  They also only allow 4 on the field per team.  You might think that is lame because they only play half of the game.  But these kids are tired!  They are running the whole time since they don't have very many people to pass to.  They have to play all the positions. I really like it.  They are not stuck in a bunch, they can really move around.  Plus there is usually 1 or 2 kids missing at the games, so they usually play more than half of the game.

Kaleb on the other hand, does NOT like that only 4 can play. If he could have it his way, we would play the entire game with no rest.  When Charles tells him it is his turn to sub, watch out.  He might throw a chair. He's done it twice this season.  He really loves this game.  And he's pretty good too.  He will dribble the ball all the way up the feild and then run all the way back to defend the goal, and then run all the way back to his side to be open for a pass and a shot, and then run all the way back to be on defense.  Over and over and over.  He's a machine. And he's quick.  He scores about 2-3 goals per game and we don't even need to bribe him.  Soccer is his happy place... as long as he's not on the sidelines.

Since Charles is the coach AND the Ref for each game, he needs me to keep time for the game, keep time for subs, and help get them ready to go in.  We sub about every 4 minutes so they are constantly going in and out.  Thank goodness Mom Dad and Alli are always at the games.  I never know what my OWN kids are doing. Unless they are trying to take my phone while I'm using it as a timer. The only hard thing is trying to take pictures.  I don't get very much of a chance, so this is what we ended up with this season... Oh well.  Better than nothing. The Fall season has ended and the team will resume play in the Spring.
